Venerable Master Hsing Yun Presides Over Wu Xiuqi’s Farewell Ceremony Top

On the morning of May 29th, Wu Xiuqi’s farewell ceremony was held at Southern Taiwan’s University of Technology Assembly Hall. Wu Xiuqi was known as the head of enterprise in Southern Taiwan. Founder of Fo Guang Shan Venerable Master Hsing Yun led five senior monastics, thirty-two monastics, and the BLIA members in the farewell ceremony.

Chao Chou Temple held an Eight-Precept Retreat at Chao Chou Temple. Venerable Hui Feng presided over the retreat and explained the significance of abiding by the precepts. Approximately one hundred and fifty devotees were in attendance.

To relax the candidates who will be sitting for university examinations and high school basic tests, Chi Le Temple, BLIA Keelung Supervisory Committee, and An Le Junior High School hosted a wrapping glutinous rice activity on May 27th at 1pm. The activity took place at An Le Junior High School’s Assembly Hall. In the beginning, Abbess of the Chi Le Temple Venerable Yong Yu led sixty volunteers and five hundred students and their teachers to recite the sutra and a prayer for the candidates. Afterwards, small gifts were given to each of the participators.

In honor of the Buddha’s Birthday, the BLIA Chunghua Headquarters held a fifteen-day celebration throughout Taiwan. The Buddha’s Birthday Concert was held at Fo Guang Shan monastery and Taipei’s New Platform on May 14th and May 15th.

On May 15th, Fo Guang Shan’s Da Ming Temple held a Bathing the Buddha ceremony and a blessing ceremony for the candidates at the Main Shrine. Approximately one hundred and fifty people including students and their parents were in attendance. 

On May 15th, IBPS Bangkok held a Bathing the Buddha ceremony with a series of activities including a dharma talk and an exchange on meditation. More than three hundred people including sixty monks from five major temples in Thailand such as Wofo Temple, Xidanan Temple and Jinshan Temple were invited to attend the ceremony. 

On May 15th, Fo Guang Shan Guam held a Bathing the Buddha ceremony and more than three hundred people including representatives from many religions were in attendance.
