FGS Srimala Buddhist Institute
|
In
order to provide spiritual guidance to modern women, FGS
Srimala Buddhist College was founded in 1994. This program
provides a chance for them to let go of all social commitments
in order to revalue their lives and make a new plan for their
future. As Srimala students, they have the chance to to go
traveling in many countries and visit places of interest,
thereby enhancing their understanding of different cultures.
This kind of study broadens their mind and vision, thus
inspiring them to learn from Madam Srimala's ten vows on how to
benefit the society in order to actualize the Humanistic
Buddhism.
The college offers
a 4-month course for women with age. For the first month,
students will study at Fo Guang Shan monastery to learn Buddhist
etiquette. They will later go to other countries for the
following three months. Local linguistic and cultural courses
will be arranged whenever they reach a foreign country.
Up
till now, students of the Srimala Buddhist College have traveled
to countries in Europe, America, Oceania, and Asia. After
graduation, they
may enter the Women's Buddhist College, served at any of the Fo
Guang Shan branch temples, or go back into society with their
newly gained knowledge in order to benefit others.
