道場簡介

佛光山金光明寺,座落於群山環繞間,寺院欄楯樓閣寺簷翹楚,表現中國式殿堂之美,為佛光山北區最大的道場。

為秉承佛光山開山宗旨「以教育培養人才、以文化弘揚佛法、以慈善福利社會、以共修淨化人心」的理念,亦結合各界有志人士,更積極地推廣各項弘法利生的事業與活動,齊心為淨化人心,服務社會而努力。自2002年三月起,為能「提供社會大眾終身學習環境、利益大眾研修佛法、掌握現代生活樞紐、適應世代社會需要」,進而充實義工服務知能,開始規劃辦理各項進修課程:並設立以佛教義理,佛學應用,禪修、網路遠距教學等多元化學習課程,並經常性舉辦各類專題論壇講座及座談會,讀書會等。2002年間,恭迎大陸法門寺珍藏千餘年的佛指舍利來寺供奉,萬人虔誠瞻仰禮拜,千載一時的因緣,殊勝難遇,稀有難得。

金光明寺不但融合傳統與現代,亦採中國宮殿式建築設計,面積達五千餘坪,為能充份發揮弘法功能,現代化的設施裡,內部空間規劃有大雄寶殿、大會堂、會議室、禪堂、抄經堂、圖書館、電腦教室、兒童遊戲室、茶禪教室、一筆字畫展覽及滴水坊。大雄寶殿供奉著東南亞第一大玉佛,是由緬甸迎請來台,高28呎重50噸,四周有八相成道浮雕及十大弟子立像,並有近萬尊大小佛像,供信眾瞻禮,殿宇巍峨,氣氛莊嚴。

遠離塵囂的佛光山金光明寺不但是信仰中心,亦有清幽的環境,有益於個人潛修參禪,及閱讀,更是社會大眾深入佛法集休閒教育於一體的寺院學校,完全提供大眾全方位的終身學府。

Introductory of Fo Guang Shan Jin Guang Ming Temple
Fo Guang Shan Jin Guang Ming Temple sits in the mountains. Its pavilion and marquee display the beauty of Chinese buildings. It is the largest branch temple of Fo Guang Shan in north Taiwan.
To uphold FGS’s founding principles of “to Foster Talents through Education, to Propagate Dharma through Cultural, to Benefit Societies through Philanthropy, to Purify Hearts through Spiritual Cultivation” and to congregate people from all walks of live towards the principles, a good variety of courses have been provided to volunteers at the temple since March, 2002. They include Buddhist theory, Buddhism application, meditation, online courses, and distance learning programs. There are also many forums of different subjects, lectures, discussions and study groups.
In 2002, this temple housed the Relic of Buddha’s finger from Famen Temple of China. Tens of thousands of visitors came to pay their respect. It was a very rare and special event of the temple.
Jin Guang Ming Temple combined traditional and contemporary. The Chinese palace style building that covers over 178,000 square feet. The modernized facilities are fully utilized for Dharma propagation. It has the main shrine, conference hall, meeting room, meditation room, sutra transcribing room, library, computer classroom, play room, tea room, One-stroke Calligraphy Exhibits, Water Drop Tea House and dorm rooms that accommodate more than two hundred people.
In the main shrine, there is the largest jade Buddha of the South East Asia. It was from Myanmar. It is 28 feet tall and weighs 50 tons. Sounding by relief of Eight Stages of Buddha’s Progress and the Status of the Ten Great Disciples of Buddha. There are also nearly ten thousand Buddha statues of different sizes for all to pay respect.
Fo Guang Shan Jin Guang Ming Temple is not only a center of faith, it also suits the purpose of mediation and reading due to its quiet settings. Furthermore, It serves as a school that pools leisure and education together, providing a full range life-long learning school for all.
