佛光山今年以開山宗長星雲大師的新春賀辭「　　　　　　　　　　　　 」作為燈會主題，祈願諸佛菩薩暨龍天護法，護佑人人平安吉祥、圓滿如意，俾使人心如佛心，世界如佛國，戰爭遠離，和平永在，災難止息，萬世太平。

今年「佛光山2012年春節平安燈會」，以「三好」、「四給」、「五和」、「傳承」、「工藝」為五大特色，希望人人奉行「做好事」、「說好話」、「存好心」與「給人信心、給人歡喜、給人希望、給人方便」，實踐並達到「自心和悅、人我和敬、家庭和順、社會和諧、世界和平」。

來山的民眾不但可在佛光山及佛陀紀念館各殿堂、客堂領取星雲大師一筆字墨寶，亦可前往甫落成的佛館，瞻禮全球最高銅鑄坐佛、觀賞佛教首部4D動畫、參與地宮珍寶入宮法會、欣賞文教藝術展覽等。

為期一個月的佛光山春節平安燈會，有燒頭香、上燈法會、禮千佛法會、殿堂參拜、朝山禮佛、三好嘉年華會外，今年將於全山各處設置沙彌花燈，祝願龍天護佑，來山民眾吉祥平安。

This year Fo Guang Shan uses the New Year calligraphy composed by Venerable Master Hsing Yun, Founder of Fo Guang Shan, Heavenly Blessings & Protection, as the theme of our lantern festival in the hope that all the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and heavenly Dharma protectors bless everyone to be peaceful and fortunate to have their wishes fulfilled and that everyone cultivates their Buddha mind to make the world a Buddha Land where there is always peace without any catastrophe.

The five major features of the Fo Guang Shan 2012 New Year Festival of Light and Peace are three good practices, four givings, five harmonies, handing down the light, and arts and crafts. We hope that everyone can carry out the three good practices: do good deeds, speak good words, and think good thoughts; enhance the spirit of giving people confidence, happiness, hope, and comfort; and realize harmonies through cultivating their minds, respecting others, maintaining a harmonious family, bringing peace to their community, and helping achieve world peace.

Any visitor can obtain a piece of Venerable Master Hsing Yun's one-stroke calligraphy at any shrine or reception of Fo Guang Shan or the newly established Buddha Memorial Center. They are welcome to visit the Buddha Memorial Center to pay respect to the tallest bronze seated Buddha in the world, watch a 4D movie, participate in the Dharma service to install the treasured artifacts into the underground palace, or enjoy viewing cultural, educational, and artistic exhibitions.

During the one-month Fo Guang Shan New Year Festival of Light and Peace, the main activities include the traditional incense offering at the stroke of midnight on Chinese New Year, attending light-offering and paying homage to the thousand Buddhas Dharma services, visiting our shrines, doing pilgrimage, and attending the carnival of three good practices. There are sramanera lanterns all over Fo Guang Shan. We wish all visitors have heavenly blessings & protection and always enjoy peace and good luck.
