From January 28 to February 25, Fo Guang Shan Monastery is hosting the month-long Festival of Light and Peace with the theme “Rising Dawn of Success”, to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Come and light lamps as offerings to the Buddhas, sound the bell of peace, and participate in Dharma services to welcome the New Year.
This year’s lanterns present Fo Guang Shan’s involvement in sports as a means of promoting the Buddha’s teachings, while the Fo Guang Boulevard Fair features a long stretch of stalls offering vegetarian gourmet eats, such as Shanxi delicacies and creative snacks. This is a wonderful condiment to the visual feast of vibrant lanterns.
While at the Fo Guang Shan Sutra Repository, one may witness the fusion of fragrant floral art and Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s - One-Stroke Calligraphy Exhibition, as well as participate in calligraphy of words of wisdom to welcome an auspicious and fruitful New Year.
There are Hebei acrobatic shows, Guangxi Caidiao Opera, and 3D Light and Firework Shows at the Buddha Museum, as well as exhibitions of Buddhist art from the Imperial Court of the Ming and Qing Dynasties and cultural treasures of the “Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou”. Bring your family along for a unique Chinese New Year experience!
Visit Fo Guang Shan this Chinese New Year for festivities and joy. Bring home auspicious blessings and wisdom. We wish you a “rising dawn of success”, as well as auspiciousness and peace!
