(C)Single-Storey
or Pavilion-Style Pagoda
Built in 1049, Chua Dien Huu Pagoda (Single Pillar Pagoda) of Dien Huu
Tu Temple in Hanoi is Vietnam's first wooden building and the oldest pavilion-temple
extant. It was uniquely styled to look like a blooming lotus flower as
it was built on a cylindrical stone pillar in the middle of a lake.
(D)Close-Eaved Pagoda
Close-eaved pagoda is uniquely different from other types of pagoda
in the following manner: while the ground storey is proportionately larger,
the eaves are closely layered from the second storey up, with each storey
becoming shorter in height. There are also no staircases in close-eaved
pagodas for people to climb up.
Built in 523, Songyue Temple Pagoda in Dengfeng, Henan is the oldest
close-eaved brick pagoda extant in China.
(E)Tibetan-Style Dagoba
The most prominent feature of the Tibetan-style dagoba is its hemispherical
body, shaped like an inverted alms-bowl that is slightly wider on the
top.
Built in 1271, the White Dagoba at Miaoying Temple, Beijing is the largest
and oldest Tibetan-style dagoba extant in China. It is also commonly known
as the “White Dagoba” or “White Pagoda” because its body is colored white
on the outside and shaped like a precious vase.
(F)Diamond-Throne Pagoda
What is the diamond-throne pagoda? Built onto the platform of the diamond-throne
pagoda is a complex of five pagodas, with an outstanding middle pagoda
that is especially big and tall.
The Mahabodhi Temple, built between the
4th and 3rd centuries BCE, is the site of the Buddha's Enlightenment in
Bihar, India and the most important place of pilgrimage for all Buddhists.
Its main tower was constructed in the form of a pyramid, tapering off
from a square platform. On its four corners are four smaller towers built
to resemble the main building.
