Fo Guang University has from its inception hoped to continue the traditions of Chinese Buddhism and develop the spirit of Humanistic Buddhism of the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Order, in order to promote exchange and research within the field of Buddhist Studies. At present, now that the various requisite conditions have gradually been fulfilled, we are therefore upgrading our Center for Buddhist Studies associated with the College of Buddhist Studies to the status of a college level independent research center. As such, we hope to bring together even more resources to the Center, from research resources on Chinese Buddhism within China, to expand into a center of research for Chinese Buddhism of international standards, and through this further the spirit of the University as established by the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Order.
