We all seek healthier, more fulfilling lives for ourselves and for the planet, and books are important tools for gaining knowledge about how to achieve these goals for ourselves, our loved ones, and for Planet Earth. Two years ago, the Independent Publisher launched the Evergreen Book Medals to commemorate world-changing books published since the year 2000.

Where Is the Way: Humanistic Buddhism for Everyday Life, by Venerable Master Hsing Yun (Fo Guang Shan International Translation Center) won the Gold Evergreen Medal for Spiritual Leadership.

"How wonderful our lives become when we trust in the infinite and inherent capacity for connection that all beings share. Living with utmost ease and happiness and with the maximum ability to benefit others depends on our capacity and willingness." -- Where Is the Way: Humanistic Buddhism for Everyday Life, by Venerable Master Hsing Yun (Fo Guang Shan International Translation Center)

This book is free for preview at www.fgsitc.org.

Launched in 2008, the Living Now Book Awards are designed to honor the year’s best books that help readers attain healthier, more fulfilling, and productive lives. This year, the Gold medal for Meditation/Relaxation goes to Meditation and Wisdom, by Venerable Hsin Ting (Buddha’s Light Publishing).

In Meditation and Wisdom, Venerable Hsin Ting explains the path of Buddhist meditation from beginning to end: our mental afflictions and how they form, the various types of meditation and how to practice them, the benefits and wisdom that arises from meditation, and the nature of enlightenment. Compiled from years of lectures given during meditation retreats, Meditation and Wisdom is an ideal companion for those interested in learning more about Chinese Buddhist meditation.

Both books are available for sale at the BMC International Book Fair.

The Encyclopedia of Buddhist Arts is the first comprehensive collection of world Buddhist Arts. The collection includes nearly 10,000 entries and over 14,000 pictures, divided into the categories of Caves and Rock Carvings, Architecture, Sculpture, Painting, Calligraphy and Seal Engraving, Artifacts and Decorative Arts, and People.

Set to publish in late 2015, the encyclopedia is now availble for pre-order at the Book Fair.

Stories under the Tree

The Cloud and Water Mobile Libraries deliver books to children in remote villages. These mobile libraries will be stopping by at the BMC Book Fair again this year.
Apart from reading, children will also get to participate in storytelling sessions and magic shows.
The English storytelling sessions will be hosted daily during the Book Fair by Venerables, Fo Guang Ladies,
and Buddhist college students. Through these stories, we hope that children will learn the right values and
grow up to be better beings. Children are welcomed to join these sessions listed below:
