Second Wave of Students Arrive at the Temple for “Festival of Cultural Sharing”
Fo Guang Shan North Island, New Zealand
On 29th May, 175 students and 7 teachers from Mission Heights College arrived at the temple for “Festival of Cultural Sharing”
After watching animated films “The Buddha” and “Little Monk Sees the World”, the students were encouraged by their teachers to write down their understanding and insights. Then the young ones enthusiastically stepped on stage to comment on the temple’s tranquil atmosphere, the volunteer’s warm hospitaility and the delicious morning tea. The visitors have truly felt the temple’s meticulous effort at organising this event to express the spirit of “3 Good Deeds and 4 Kinds of Giving”. When one of the student received some prizes from a pop quiz, he immediately shared the treats with his fellow student, thus showing example of the kind of attitude to give others joy. Everyone were also very impressed with the cute “3G, 4G” posters decorating the venue.
Afterwards, one of the event organiser Sally Wong expressed that despite feeling tired after all the work, by witnessing the visiting students receiving new found strength from the ideals of Humanistic Buddhism’s “3G and 4G”, she has found new strength have also been added to her own life.
