"Hope for the Future": Expressing our Gratitude through Transcribing the Heart Sutra
On November 23, 1988, the Inauguration Ceremony of Hsi Lai Temple signified the official start of Venerable Master Hsing Yun's propagation of Buddhism to the West. 26 years later, the seeds of the Dharma have spread to all over the Americas. The 37 branch temples around North and South America become the homes of thousands of Buddhists.
During this season of Thanksgiving, in order to express our gratitude to Venerable Master Hsing Yun and to celebrate the beginning of his propagation of Dharma to the Americas, let's transcribe the Heart Sutra, and transfer the merits to all sentient beings. The transcribing event will be followed by the transference of merit, and your transcribed sutras will be preserved for ever in the Buddha Memorial Center in Taiwan.
