TV Producer Exploring South Hemisphere Characteristics

FGS South Island
Famous Taiwan TV producer Zhao Da Shen and his wife have made special arrangements and visited the Cloud Water house at Fo Guang Shan South Island on November 14th. They were given a warm welcome by FGS New Zealand Venerable Abbess Manshin, FGS South Island temple supervisor Venerable Jue Xi and Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island New Zealand President Lee See Shen.

On this visit, the Abbess explained to Mr and Mrs Zhao on one of the roles by FGS to the locals, which is to co-operate with the police force to create a harmonious community; as for example, in year 2010, the New Zealand Police Force Academy invited FGS to be the first Buddhist Spiritual Counselor; subsequently in 2011, after the earthquake, FGS helped out in the relief. Venerable Jue Xi has also added that FGS brings Humanistic Buddhism from FGS founder Venerable Master Hsing Yun through art and education. President Lee then mentioned ways to blend into the local multicultural idea of living.

The Abbess then invited them to the ongoing renovation site of FGS South Island and observed the plan. The couples were impressed on how FGS propagate Dharma in New Zealand, even with various cultures and languages in this southern hemisphere. They believe, with the efforts of FGS and BLIA members, it could develop a special and more effective way of understanding the Dharma.

Mr and Mrs Zhao were then invited for dinner which gave them taste and memories from their hometown. They then thanked everyone for such great conversations, a wonderful time and an unforgettable moment for their visit in South Island.
