The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)

Founded in 1963, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is a forward looking comprehensive research university with a global vision and a mission to combine tradition with modernity, and to bring together China and the West. CUHK teachers and students hail from all corners of the world. We have over 20,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students, of whom 3,000 come from regions outside Hong Kong. CUHK graduates are connected worldwide through an expansive alumni network.

Teaching Excellence As a top university in Hong Kong and Asia, CUHK aims to nurture students with both specialized knowledge and wisdom for life. The education experience here is distinguished by a flexible credit unit system, a college system, bilingualism and multiculturalism. There are general education courses to broaden students' perspectives and develop in them the ability to face the challenges of contemporary society. Our eight Faculties offer a wide array of excellent undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Research Achievements CUHK undertakes a wide range of research programmes in many subject areas, and strives to provide scope for all academic staff to undertake consultancy and collaborative projects with industry. The University's insistence on the highest standards of research has won it an enviable research reputation. Hong Kong's University Grants Committee (UGC) provides preferential grant funding to the local tertiary institutions to conduct research into 15 selected Areas of Excellence (AoEs). Six of these AoEs are being led by researchers from CUHK. The University houses two state key laboratories which are entrusted by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China to produce research of international quality and carry out important national research tasks. The University also has an excellent record of published research, both in discipline-specific journals and in more high-profile publications such as Science, Nature, and The Lancet.

Unique College System Of all Hong Kong universities, CUHK is the only one that offers a college experience. Our constituent Colleges, Chung Chi, New Asia, United and Shaw, complement the formal curricula to deliver whole-person education and pastoral care. The college system encourages intimate interaction among teachers, students and alumni. Our five new Colleges, Morningside College, S.H. Ho College, C.W. Chu College, Wu Yee Sun College and Lee Woo Sing College will further enhance diversity and add colour to university life.

Campus Environment Our beautiful 134-hectare campus overlooking Tolo Harbour is the largest and greenest in Hong Kong. It houses a range of facilities essential for an all-round campus experience, such as world-class libraries, art museums, music halls, swimming pool, sports fields, tennis courts, squash courts, water sports centre and gymnasia.

Introducing CUHK Women Basketball team Since the establishment of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, CUHK Women's Basketball Team has selected elite basketball players and trained them to represent the University to take part in both local and overseas competitions. Most of these players are from Hong Kong team and youth team. The Physical Education Unit will arrange training camp for them every year and the players will have friendly matches among the Hong Kong local teams regularly. In 2009, the Women's Basketball Team visited Macau, Beijing and Changchun, China to participate in various friendly matches.

香港中文大學（中大）成立於1963年，為研究型綜合大學，以「結合傳統與現代，融會中國與西方」為使命，蹈厲奮發，志在千里。中大師生來自世界各地。我們的本科和研究生共達二萬之譜，其中約三千人來自香港以外的不同國家和地區。我們也有廣大的本地和海外校友組織，聯繫身在世界各地的中大畢業生。

優質教學

中大是香港乃至亞洲首屈一指的大學，本校的宗旨是培育既具專精知識又有處世智慧的人才，本校特色包括靈活學分制、書院制、中英兼重和多元文化；並特設通識教育，以拓寬學生視野，及培養綜合思考能力，使學生在瞬息萬變的現代社會中，能內省外顧，成為出色的領袖人才，貢獻社會。中大的八個學院提供林林總總的本科和研究院課程。

研究稱譽

香港中文大學研究項目包羅萬象，遍及各個學科。校方又予教員自由為業界提供顧問服務或與之協作之便。在嚴格的自我要求下，大學的研究一直保持上乘水準，享譽日隆。香港大學教育資助委員會（教資會）選定了十五個卓越學科領域，集中資源資助本地大學進行研究，其中六個由中大學者負責。現時中文大學有兩間由中國科學技術部批准成立的國家重點實驗室，具備國際一流水平的研究能力，完成國家交付的科研重任。在發表研究成果方面，中大的成績粲然可觀。無論在專門領域的學報，還是一般人耳熟能詳的期刊，如《自然》、《科學》、《刺針》，都可見中大學人的文章。

獨有的書院制 書院制是中大特色，在本港大學中獨一無二。現有的成員書院計有崇基學院、新亞書院、聯合書院和逸夫書院，它們與大學相輔相成，提供以學生為本的全人教育和關顧輔導，加強師生間的交流和互動，凝聚學生對書院和母校的歸屬感。我們新近增添五所新書院，分別是晨興書院、善衡書院、敬文書院、伍宜孫書院及和聲書院，為學生提供更多選擇。

校園環境 中大校園面積一百三十四公頃，俯瞰吐露港，是全港最寬廣、最綠意盎然的校園。為滿足學習與生活所需，校內有齊備的設施 ，包括一流的圖書館，另有文物館、音樂廳、游泳池、運動場、網球場、壁球場、水上活動中心和健身室等。

女子籃球隊簡介 自中大成立後，中大女子籃球隊每年均選拔優秀運動員，加以培訓，以代表中大出征香港及海外賽事。大部分隊員均來自香港隊和青年隊。體育部每年都會爲他們安排集訓，隊員也會定期與香港甲組的球隊作友誼賽。2009年，他們曾遠赴澳門、北京和長春等地參與比賽。
