佛光大學簡介

佛光大學是由佛光山開山宗長星雲大師所創辦的大學，也是蘭陽地區的第一所大學，校址位於宜蘭縣礁溪鄉林美村山上，海拔約四百三十公尺，佔地五十七公頃，可鳥瞰蘭陽平原及龜山島。
校園的山川靈氣，古樸的教室設備，小班的教學制度，為學生營造最佳的求學環境。

佛光大學自1993年奉准開始籌設，經歷七年的建設，在2000年以「佛光人文社會學院」創校招生，2006年8月改名為「佛光大學」。

目前佛光大學有人文學院、社會科學暨管理學院、理工學院和佛教研修學院，四個學院下轄有二十三個系所，學生人數約三千人。

佛光大學校訓為星雲大師所提示的「義正道慈」。
就是透過內在的認知轉化成有用的知識，具有自主思考與獨立判斷的能力即是「義」；
知道什麼是正確的事（doing right things）和怎麼做才是正確的方法（doing things right）就是「正」；追求真理，吸取知識即是「道」；同時懷有感恩和喜捨的心，關懷社會，服務社會就是「慈」。

佛光創校即以「人文」為主要考量，發揚中國教育的傳統，融入到整個世界大學總體發展的趨勢中，希望延續中國教育的精神，在現代大學的架構上，仍能體現宋明書院的傳統。

佛光大學女籃隊簡介

佛光大學女籃隊成立於2007年7月，為國內大學女籃隊中，創立時間最短的一支球隊。球隊創辦人為佛光山開山宗長星雲大師，他一心一意想要培養一支具有國際水準與技術的女籃隊。後來於2003年春，因為韓國女籃國寶李亨淑教練與佛光山的結緣，星雲大師禮聘李亨淑為球隊總教練，開啟了佛光山有計劃的培育女子籃球之始。 　　

佛光大學女籃為李亨淑總教練從普門中學（佛光山創立的私立中學）一手栽培起來的球員，當2007年普中女籃第一屆球員畢業，整批晉升佛光大學就讀，是台灣唯一由中學至大學皆由同一辦學單位（佛光山）實施整體系統培育的球隊。

佛光大學女籃隊雖然成立時間僅有三年，但是戰績輝煌。第一年即以十五連勝之戰績榮獲96學年度大專院校籃球聯賽女生甲二級冠軍，第二年挑戰大專院校籃球聯賽女生甲一級比賽即打入第四搶，奪得第四名，2009年參加全國中正盃大學暨中學籃球賽奪得女生甲組冠軍。

有鑑於球隊技術發展漸臻成熟，佛光山為落實推展全民體育風氣，特於2009年成立「三好體育協會」，2010年9月舉辦「佛光盃國際大學女子籃球邀請賽」，朝向星雲大師「打上國際體壇，
傳達國民外交的聯誼友好，協助推廣「做好事、說好話、存好心」三好運動」的理想邁進。

Fo Guang University Women's Basketball Team

Fo Guang University’s women basketball team is established in July 2007.  It is the youngest team within Taiwan. The team founder, Venerable Master Hsing Yun of the Buddhist organization Fo Guang Shan, is aiming to train an international-levelled and skilled women basketball team. In spring 2003, due to the friendship between the famous Korean basketball coach Lee, Hyung-Suk and Fo Guang Shan, Venerable Master Hsing Yun cordially invited her to become the head coach of FGU’s basketball team.  This marks the beginning of Fo Guang Shan’s plan to nurture a women’s basketball team.

Coach Lee started to train the team players since they were still studying in Pu Men Secondary School (a private high school founded by Fo Guang Shan). As soon as the first group of players graduated from Pu Men Secondary school in 2007, they were all promoted to FGU.  This is the only basketball team in Taiwan that receives a systematic training starting from high school to university, which both schools are founded by the same education organization (Fo Guang Shan).

Although the team has only been established for three years, its achievements are very impressive. In the first year, the team won the National University Basketball League grade B with a 15 straight-wins record. During the second year, it challenged the National University Basketball League grade A.  The team got into Top 4, and successfully gained the fourth place. In 2009, the team won the champion in the Zhong Zhen Cup National Basketball Tournament.

As the FGU women’s basketball team develops and becomes more and more mature and skilful, Fo Guang Shan established the "Fo Guang Shan Sports Association" in 2009, in order to implement the promotion of national sports activities. Hosting the 2010 BLIA Cup International University Women’s Basketball Tournament in September 2010, is a big step towards Master Hsing Yun's ideal, which is " to show Taiwan’s friendliness to the world, as well as to promote the " Three Good Deeds" ( Do Good Things, Speak Good Words, Think Good Thoughts).
